<![CDATA[First Amendment Soil Company - History]]>Sun, 12 Apr 2020 09:23:40 -0700Weebly<![CDATA[Increases Coco Coir Processing Efficiency!]]>Sun, 08 Nov 2015 19:27:09 GMThttp://firstamendmentsoil.com/history/increases-coco-coir-processing-efficiencyWe are excited to announce that we have procured a Coco Coir Processing Machine. Coco Coir is the inner husks of coconuts which has come on strong in the market in the last couple decades as a Peat Moss or Inert Media alternative. Their are varying grades of Coco Coir, from low grade dusts found in most products to longer fibers to varying chip sizes with macerated fibers (our favorite). Coco is known for excellent drainage and thus, great access to air/oxygen in the rhizosphere.

Coco Coir is most commonly shipped from the tropics, where it is produced, in compressed blocks, compressed four fold. This means that a 1/2 cubic foot block will expand to become 2 or more cubic feet of media. Traditionally, to decompress our block, we would soak them in clean water and then drain them like spaghetti. This process is labor intensive and if you need volumes of Coco like we do, quite time consuming.

Now with our new equipment, made in America, we will be able to process Coco with great speed and the design of the equipment is ever so gentle on the Coir fibers. This means that we can continue to provide the best value in retail, custom and contract mixed soils. If you are in the greater Denver or Colorado region and appreciate Coco as your grow media or media component, give us a ring, we now have the best values in processed Coco in the region.

<![CDATA[Freedom of Soil - We get an Ironic Trademark]]>Wed, 22 Apr 2015 19:19:01 GMThttp://firstamendmentsoil.com/history/freedom-of-soil-we-get-an-ironic-trademarkWe are pleased to announce that we have been granted the United States Federal Registered Trademark for our company and brand name, First Amendment®. This means that we have put a recognized flag on this territory. We found this step necessary as there were others that were stepping on our incredibly awesome name.

That being said, we find this to be one of the most ironic Trademarks out there. It would appear that we have the Trademark on our name, First Amendment®, which also happens to be the name of the U.S. Constitutional Amendment that says you cannot own names, that reads as follows:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

You know our perspective....Freedom of Soil.

<![CDATA[Colorado is calling....]]>Tue, 29 Jul 2014 23:01:27 GMThttp://firstamendmentsoil.com/history/colorado-is-callingWell isn't this ironic, to have Colorado calling, given that is where we were just prior to starting First Amendment Company. We really got our game on a few years back when things were really busting loose in Colorado and growing the best of plants was becoming more popular. With some of the most advanced growers getting wind of our products back east, they used their smart phones to get smart and call us.

<![CDATA[We start selling soil under the Mass Whole Soil brand name]]>Sat, 17 Sep 2011 22:48:06 GMThttp://firstamendmentsoil.com/history/we-start-selling-soil-under-the-mass-whole-soil-brand-name1We started First Amendment Company in a 20 gallon tote, literally. Our chain of garden centers led us to mix up some soil for friends, their landlord won't let them mix at home any more because of the smell. This is a smell we know all too well at this point. Everyone was talking "Super Soil", "Super Soil." So we saw a bunch of M(assholes) saying "Super Soil" and we decided on Mass Whole Super Soil - not just a soil, but an entire methodology for feeding and supporting plants.
